Inspiration for teachers, parents and students of Suzuki violin
This website celebrates the musical legacy of Sharron Beamer, one of the most respected teachers of Suzuki violin in the UK. Beginning violin studies as an adult, Sharron went on to study with Shinichi Suzuki in Matsumoto, Japan, and has since touched the lives of countless children and their families through the gift of music. She has taught for 35 years from her home studio in London, and on the faculty of dozens of international Suzuki workshops.
Sharron's work with young children is particularly admired. This website hosts a series of videos featuring two of her students, Lyra and Harry, in which Sharron demonstrates some of her methods for the Pre-Twinkle and Suzuki Book 1 stages. These have been developed over many years through learning, experimentation, joyful mistakes, and proudly witnessing the accomplishments of her students, many of which have gone on to have professional careers.
Lyra | Aged 3-4 during filming
Lyra was born in London to musical parents. Even before she turned two, Lyra would happily observe Sharron's violin lessons for hours. She also loves unicorns, eating blueberries and riding her bicycle.
Harry | Aged 6-7 during filming
Harry started violin lessons with Sharron when he was 4. He was inspired by Albert Einstein and used to assume all scientists should be musicians. Playing violin has enabled him to focus and develop self-motivation.
